My "city" girl comes out when I try to do something like this. The first time I put a seed in the ground I had my doubts that it would turn into a plant. One you could eat no less. I was in my 30's before I knew what corn looked like in it's natural form, on the stock and all. When asked "Where do vegetables come from?" my answer would be "The grocery store of course!". Before coming to Iowa I had never seen an apple on an apple tree. Really!
There is something about growing your own vegetables that feels good. It would be another story if I had to survive on what I grew. Thank goodness for grocery stores.
